LOCATION

Pakistan is located in Asia along the Arabian Sea; its neighbors are Iran, Afghanistan, India and China . The capital is Islamabad and the country has a population of 197 million. The Indus river runs through Pakistan and is a significant source of water for its people.

RELIGION

Islam is the state religion and 96% of Pakistanis are Muslim. The other 4% are Christian or Hindu. Although freedom of worship is guaranteed by the constitution, non- Muslim Pakistanis often face discrimination

EQUALITY

The ratio of women to men in the workforce is 20-40%. The literacy rate for women is 46% and significantly lower than the 70% rate for men.
